Compost and Height will be exhibiting at the FOMO: Falmouth Art Publishing Fair 2017. Organised by Gillian Wylde, Carolyn Shapiro, Maria Christoforidou and Neil Chapman, FOMO is a project in collaboration with Falmouth Art Gallery, showcasing and promoting publishing as an expanded practice; bringing artists, performers, musicians, illustrators, historians, graphic designers, writers, thinkers and poets into dialogue with the public and with each other towards new and unexpected working partnerships.
Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) implies anxiety associated with contemporary modes of communication, the profusion of cultural events made possible by a supposed diversification and democratising of media channels. FOMO implies its converse (JOMO), a joy associated with missing out, the potential of community-building on a micro or local level, in the means and in the relationships most ready to hand.
The fair provides opportunities for display, sale and distribution of artists’ publications of all kinds: editions, pamphlets, broadsheets, posters, leaflets, newspapers, journals, artists’ books, zines, stickers, audio recordings and other less easily definable publications.
Compost and Height will be exhibiting alongside BORE Publishing, with special editions made available for the event from both publishers. BORE Publishing will launch its new ‘loose leaf edition’ of single page scores by contemporary composers, and Compost and Height will launch a new poster series. In addition to these both publishers will be exhibiting books, pamphlets, scores, and other printed ephemera from their respective catalogues.
Other publishers and artists at FOMO include Urbanomic, Copy Press, Ami Clark / Banner Repeater, and Cassiopeia.
